The Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Foreign Languages at the FLSH offers two tracks: a traditional track focused on business, tourism, and international communication, and a new, more specialized track geared toward international relations. In addition, students have the option to pursue the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Foreign Languages in English/Spanish or English/German, regardless of their chosen track. The goal of the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Foreign Languages at the Catholic University of Lille is to combine linguistic knowledge with business and entrepreneurial skills!

Minor in International Relations

Through the LEA Bachelor’s degree with a specialisation in International Relations, students will focus on developing the language and professional skills that will enable them to work on an international scale. International relations is a constantly evolving field, and highly qualified professionals are in great demand.

The combination of Languages and International Relations will enable students to acquire in-depth skills in three foreign languages, whilst also studying subjects specific to the field of International Relations: relations and issues between countries, economics, history, politics, and so on, as well as relations with associations and non-governmental organisations. Students embarking on this programme will thus be able to learn more about the role of the nation state and the influence exerted by global factors on contemporary ideas, whilst acquiring a high level of proficiency in foreign languages.

Thanks to close cooperation between the programme and the business world, students on the Bachelor’s degree in Applied Foreign Languages master the methodological approaches that will enable them to work in both local and international organisations. They will be able to negotiate with contacts and partners from a variety of backgrounds. They will also be trained in managing international teams and organising the operations of an import-export department.

A compulsory work placement of at least two months in the third year offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience and get a feel for working life. The placement is the subject of a written and oral report.
